DISPLAY OF NO HANDED BIKE MOVES

I found this video a while back on Starling & Hero. It was more or less around the same time that buck-attacking-a-biker video went viral. Personally, as crazy as that moment was and as amazing as it was to have been caught on film, I've watched this video far more. Pretty cool backing track there as well. My favourite? The "Tony Blair giving a speech". Priceless. For those that don't know anything about Starling & Hero, they're a local crowd that take old bicycles and make them better than knew. Got to see their stand at The Neighbourgoods Market in Juta Street recently. You should have a chat next time you're there.

FEAR.LESS - LOCAL COLLABORATION

It's been a while since I've had a chance to sit down, clear my head and put up some quality content. I've been finding loads of great stuff to post, but what's a blog if it doesn't have a fair amount of opinion on what you're posting. As much as I love tumblr, I don't want this to be my tumblr. I want discussion and discourse, opinion and feedback. Engaging stuff. To kick off what might still be a sporadic bout of posting here's a look-see at some talented local team-effort stuff. Daniel Ting Chong and Jordan Metcalf collaborated to produce a series of artworks commenting on our collective paranoia and fear of crime in a South African context. WISDOM AND YOUTH - OUR OFFICE

Our team and our office were recently featured in the latest edition of Elle. Jenna McArthur visited the studio and checked out what we wear and what we get up to. Thought you guys might want to have a look see at what we all look like and the cool space we get to work in every day. A few of the team were chosen to be featured in the mag. I was pipped at the post for a guys spot by my boss Neville Trickett and my mate Darryn, two of the best dressed and stylish blokes I know. It was an easily accepted defeat. LOCAL LADS PICK UP A LOERIE

Congrats to my mates Kevin Parry and Greg Davies of In the Beginning for their first ever Loerie Award. This is truly a great achievement considering they've only been on the scene for a short while, and were the only Durban agency to win this year. They picked up a silver for their work for Ardmore in the design mixed media campaign category. The agency was briefed on translating the renowned ceramic pieces of Ardmore Ceramics into a range of mediums, including silk scarves, fabric design, furniture design ( couch and ottoman), as well as tableware. The couch in particular was nominated for the Most Beautiful Object in South Africa award, and has been featured in Visi Magazine and the Sunday Times, and travelled to Milan for the Talking Textile exhibition. MOOKI NOODLE BAR LUNCH MENU

Hello fellow lovers of great food and other nice things you can put in your face. This here is the new Mooki Noodle Bar lunch menu kindly mailed to me by Charisse. If you've yet to sample cuisine from this fine establishment you have yet to truly live. I've never had a bad meal there and they know me by name now, which is cool. I've yet to secure shares, but I'm working on it. Also my blog is acting up and I'm battling to upload portrait images so mail me if you'd like a PDF of this.

GOTTA GET DOWN ON BRAAI-DAY

To celebrate what is possibly the greatest day of the year, after Christmas and my birthday, local comedy duo 'Derick Watts and the Sunday Blues' recorded a video to celebrate National Braai Day on the 24th of September.

CAT FANCIERS ASSOCIATION

I got called through to the lounge this morning and made to watch coverage of an annual dog show in the States somewhere. Each year bulldog owners spend sleepless nights and countless dollars sassing up their beloved mutts. Then I found these pics by Dylan DeRose. They reminded of this great mockumentary "Best in Show". I'm fascinated by the hobbies people have, and the great sense of comraderie amongst those who participate. I'm sure these sort of events happen in South Africa, but they're more than likely north of the Vaal and involve livestock. See more of his shots here. Discovered via Flavorwire.

Talented local lass Kim Longhurst has a new blog. It's pretty difficult to pin point exactly what it is that Kim does ( illustrate, paint, design, make other cool stuff) , but whatever she does, is done exceptionally well. Pop on by and follow it/tell her how cool she is/buy something.

GET INVOLVED EXHIBITION

Recently saw on Lucky Pony that they were hosting a photographic exhibition at Wolves on the 2nd of September. It's a film-only show so I had a scrounge through some recent shots. Hoping to make it up for the show but it's looking doubtful. These are two of the shots I submitted. If you're in the area, pop by on Friday night for what's sure to be cracker of an evening. INKLING - THE TRAILER

Ever wish you could take a sketch you've just finished and copy it, as is, straight into an editable format on your computer. Well, that's the wish of many, and to a degree that is achievable. The thing is you have to tweak the various levels, up the tolerance and fiddle with a range of indecipherable settings. Well that's not the case any more.

URBAN OUTFITTERS EARLY FALL

Urban Outfitters are always on trend with each new range and this one for early fall doesn't disappoint. There are a few things I dig but the mix of brights and earth tones coming through, their art direction and styling, the locations, the offbeat models and the fact that they're supporting students at the Pratt Institute who got the chance to design a dress for this season, make them a permanent favourite. Now just to find out when they're opening a store in South Africa. Oh and I recently discovered they have a tumblr. Follow them. Above are some images from their latest catalogue.
