CHRIS JORDAN

Trash art? Um...not quite. What you see here is an unaltered shot of a dead baby albatross. The colourful items you see are bottle caps, plastic items and other trash the mother has mistaken for food and fed her young chick. Please don't feign ignorance to this. Do you think that all your trash ends up in a landfill? Chris Jordan documents this and numerous other horrid ends to young birds on Midway island, 2000 miles from the nearest continent.

HUANG QINGJUN AND MA HONGJIE

Really interesting photographic series by two Chinese photographers Huang Qingjun and Ma Hongjie. It intrigues me that some families have only a handful of possessions. Here in the West we're such a part of a materialistic culture, accumulating "stuff", that we could in fact do without. Found here on Booooooom.

BREATH OF FRESH AIR - TREVOR PAUL

A mate of mine Trevor, has been pioneering design and illustration on the Durban and, not so surprisingly, the international scene for a while now. Being something of a seasoned veteran, his work and originality continue to inspire and challenge me to enjoy what I do and not get bogged down with what can be become a energy-sapping career choice. CORNELIA HESSE-HONEGGER

From childhood I've always had a fascination with nature, primarily birds and bugs, as our garden was always teeming with them, and a flying-ant feast was a common curiousity. Not so much anymore though. I'm convinced to this day that I found many new species tucked beneath stones, or hiding in the rockery. So naturally, these illustrations caught my eye.
